The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), acting on behalf of the Government of Ghana, and Event Horizon, organisers of the Afro Nation festival, have signed a memorandum of understanding giving Ghana the right to play host to “the biggest urban music beach festival in the world” for the next five years.

Music fans offended by former Recording Academy president and chief executive Neil Portnow’s controversial remark in 2018 (that women need to “step up” in order to earn more Grammy nominations) will no doubt be pleased to see the just-announced list of contenders for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

Before 12 Years a Slave hit the big screen, people were tired of seeing films telling the stories of slaves. Such stories, one critic said, “have the same storyline with different actors”. The movie directed by Steve Rodney McQueen changed this narrative.
