The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, commissioned a computer laboratory for the Choggu Demonstration School in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region this week.

Having recognised the crucial role that women in information and communications technology play in national development, the Akufo-Addo government reviewed the “Girls in ICT” initiative, institutionalised in 2012, to include coding in the training module.

The Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, says information and communications technology is neither complex nor the preserve of men and has as a result encouraged girls to venture into that sector.
